This was a 6-person team project, created in a weekend for Global Game Jam 2025. I was one of the two primary programmers, worked on gameplay design and audio design, and was part of discussing and giving feedback on art direction for the game. It was a blast!

🎞️ One weekend to make a game

For Global Game Jam, we had one weekend to make a game. We needed to create something with a quick, simple main mechanic. My main responsibility was creating the player (bubble) controls. In this game, you control moving left/right and you can slam downwards quickly to bounce off platforms and obstacles. Spikes destroy the player bubble.

Collaborating with teammates

A really fun part of this project was working with artists who created art and animation for the game, as well as working with another programmer. It was also a blast to see one team member who loved level design get to focus on creating levels.

Keeping it simple

With the short deadline, we had to focus on top-priority aspects first. I helped with project management and suggesting early target deadlines to help give some time buffer.

We wound up with core controls of left/right movement for the player with a quick downwards jump for bubble platforming, bubbles you can jump on, plants that change your size (this was going to be more fleshed out), spikes that destroy the bubble, rotating platforms, and fans that push the bubble in a direction.
